So sorry it has been so long since I last posted. I went to Florence and Pisa last weekend, had one day to recover, and then went off to Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento, the Almalfi Coast, and Naples all last week. It has been exhausting and such an incredible experience. I have decided to do it in two separate posts. Florence and Pisa this one and Rome trip next (hopefully tomorrow).
So we rode a train to Florence and got there around 11. Our plan was to hike up to the top of the Duomo first, but for some reason we couldn’t check into our hostel until 4:30. It takes over 400 steps to get to the top of the Duomo, and we did it all with our backpacks. It was quite difficult but so worth it with a view like this:
This is how high up we were in the church:
Later that night we experienced the night life of Florence and had our first hostel experience. The hostel was actually super nice with an indoor pool with color changing lights. I am going to have an unrealistic expectation for my next hostel.
The next morning we woke up and took a train to Pisa. This day was one of the top 5 best days of my life. The weather was perfect, I was with great people, the tower and the church were beautiful, and just everything was wonderful. Pisa just might be my favorite city I have visited in Italy so far. Words just can’t explain how great that day was.
This is Courtney saving me from the tower:
Giggin 'em in Pisa:
Sitting on the lawn on a beautiful day with 2 baby boys stopping by to play= more perfection
Just being emo
We almost didn't go into the church, but thank goodness we did. Here are a few pictures:
Seriously one of the best weekends I ever remember. It was one of those that made me stop and realize where I am and how lucky I am and just be thankful.
Hopefully I will update with Rome adventures tomorrow or Thursday!
